JoL9 is a new team sport. The JoL9 League is the association for the Players and the Teams. The game’s basic rules are as follow:
Rectangular turf with two rectangular goals at each end. The goals have a vertical hoop in the upper-center portion.
JoL9 official league ball. JoL9 Youth ball official league.
Jersey, shorts, sox, cleats, chin guards, JoL9 stick. Climate appropriate apparel as needed. Optional eye protection, cups.
16 players, 8 for each team, stand behind the same goal line, one team on each side of the goal-hoop. The ball is placed at the center of the opposite half of the field. The remaining two players, one for each team, take a position abeam the ball on the side line, one player on one side, the other on the opposite side. The referee signals the start of the game. At the referee’s signal the two players abeam the ball start sprinting towards their teammates, the runners must slap at least one hand of any one of his teammates then continue towards the ball. The runners cannot cross the imaginary longitudinal center line. When any runner crosses the center line the rest of the players can enter the field. Each runner must attempt to catch the ball first and score on whichever side they choose, the runner can pass the ball to a teammate to score. The side the runner, or another player, scores determines the team’s side for the first half. The teams change sides for the second half. There are no goal keepers, players cannot stay within the 6 yards / 6 m box in front of the goal for more than 5 seconds.
Goal 1 point, Hoop 2 points. If teams have an even score at the end of the game, a ‘sudden death’ extension is played, first team scoring wins. The start of the extension period is similar to a regular game start.
The ball is controlled by using the entire body, except for the arms and hands, additionally the player can use the JoL9 stick to catch, throw and control the ball. Forward pass is authorized; no offside rule exists.
No rough contacts allowed. No charging allowed. A player cannot use the JoL9 stick to contact another player’s body or stick. No faking injuries allowed.
Fouls result in ‘Jail’ time of one-minute increments where the player at fault must leave the field for the duration of the penalty time received.
Duration: 90 minutes, divided in 2 halves with a fifteen-minute break. Duration can be shortened for Youth players.
Team Owners, Coaches, Referees, Players, Parents, Guardians, Fans, must apply common sense and FairPlay to the game.
